1st Annual Central MS BBQ Throwdown Rules and Regulations

  • Teams must pre-register online before the event.
  • Teams must supply their own proteins for each category.
  • No power supply. You must bring a generator if needed.
  • Teams must keep a clean work/cooking area.
  • Pre-trimming can be done prior to event date, but all meat must be seasoned on site.
  • Judging will be done by the blind box method. Marking of the boxes results in automatic disqualification.
  • Judging will be done KCBS style judging.
  • No garnishing of the boxes. Boxes will be presented to you by the event staff. Tin foil and meat are the only permitted items in the box for turn in.
  • 6-8 items of each protein in each turn in box.
  • Each team should have a fire extinguisher on site.
  • Pit fires cannot be started directly on the grounds.
  • There will be a designated ash dumping spot.
  • No vehicles in cooking area during the event after 8am.
  • Teams meeting will be held at 9am at the community house to discuss competition rules and procedures.
  • Ribs must be St. Louis or Baby Backs. No whole spare or western style.
  • Chicken can be cut of choice. (Wings, Breast, or Thigh)
  • Pork shoulders can be cut and broken down to serve.
